Texas State Senate representative Mike Jackson has chosen to run for United States Congress, rather than to seek re-election in his home state.
As a republican, he wants to join Congress to help combat the Obama administration policies he believes are damaging to the economy.
As a prominent force in the Texas construction industry for many years because of the family business, Force Corporation, Mike knows the importance of having a stable economy and making jobs available to his constituents. His business sense is just what Congress needs to get the national economy rolling again. He believes in order to foster economic growth, we need to make sure the federal government is less involved in small businesses. He also believes we need to say no to more spending that will increase the national debt, because this does nothing but threaten the security of the economy by hindering job growth.
Mike Jackson has lived in La Porte, Texas since 1973. He began his political career there in 1988, as a state representative. When he was elected, he defeated a democrat incumbent, who had served in his seat for the previous 16 years.
He married his wife Vicki in 1983, and together they have two adult children, Vic and Michelle.
Mike and Vicki are members of the First United Methodist Church of La Porte. Mike is a member of the Texas State Rifle Association. He is also part of several area Chambers of Commerce. His is a licensed pilot, and enjoys hunting and fishing.
